Travel Service
There are moments when travel takes your breath away — literally. For me, ziplining through the rainforests of Costa Rica was one of those moments. Dangling from a steel cable hundreds of feet in the air, surrounded by emerald green as far as the eye could see… I felt like I was flying.
The First Step Off the Platform
Let me tell you — nothing prepares you for that first step. You clip in, the guide gives you a reassuring nod, and suddenly you’re zipping across a vast jungle valley. The ground disappears, the air rushes past, and all you can do is scream, laugh, or hold your breath (I did all three).
Each zipline felt more thrilling than the last. Some were short and fast, others long and scenic — especially the one where I flew straight toward the Arenal Volcano in the distance. It was like being in a National Geographic documentary, but better because I was in it.
Not Just a Thrill — A Nature Encounter
Between adrenaline bursts, I had the chance to take in the rainforest from a totally new perspective. At one point, I paused on a hanging bridge between zips and spotted a sloth napping in the treetops. Birds called from deep within the forest, and the air smelled like earth and wildflowers. It was surreal.
Costa Rica does eco-tourism so well. The guides talked about the rainforest’s fragile ecosystems and how ziplining helps fund conservation projects. That made the whole experience even more rewarding.
My Top Zipline Spot Picks
If you’re heading to Costa Rica, here are three places I’d 100% recommend for ziplining:
-
Monteverde Cloud Forest – Misty, mysterious, and full of wildlife.
-
Arenal (La Fortuna) – Epic views of the volcano and forest.
-
Manuel Antonio – Zip over rivers and down toward the coast.
Travel Tips for Your Zipline Adventure
-
Wear lightweight clothes and closed-toe shoes. You’ll be climbing stairs and walking between platforms.
-
Go hands-free if you can — I brought a GoPro with a helmet mount and the footage was unreal.
-
Listen to the guides — they’re fun and full of cool nature facts.
Would I Do It Again?
In a heartbeat. Ziplining in Costa Rica wasn’t just a bucket list check — it was one of the best ways I’ve ever experienced nature.
